The former Minister of the Civil House and national president of the PP, Senator Ciro Nogueira (PI), said this Monday (24) that former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) may leave aside the dispute for the Planalto Palace in 2026.
“I don’t even know if he [Bolsonaro] will be a candidate. I even think he might not even be a candidate, so I talk to him a lot. But, if you take this right off-field, it will not be good for Brazilian democracy”, he said in an interview with Roda Viva, on TV Cultura, in a recording by Politics 360.
Nogueira also stated that former first lady Michelle Bolsonaro is currently “the strongest woman” in the country’s electoral system, but that the governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), has more strength to dispute the presidential succession.
“Tarcísio, for example, if he [Bolsonaro] cannot be a candidate, he is stronger than her. Forgive me for saying this. Politics is queue. Michelle is the only person in the country to be elected senator in the 27 states of the federation. There is a queue, Tarcísio is stronger than Michelle, as Bolsonaro is stronger than Tarcísio ”, she declared.
The former Minister of the Civil House also stated that he is “more loyal, more faithful” to the former president than Biolsonaro’s own children, such as Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) and Councilor Carlos Bolsonaro (Republicans). -RJ). Ciro Nogueira also came out in defense of the former president in the investigation into the meeting held with ambassadors in July 2022, in which he cast doubt on the Brazilian electoral system.
“If Bolsonaro has already elected the number of people he has already elected, imagine being wronged because of a meeting with ambassadors”, he said, citing that the process could make him “unbeatable”.
