One of the most active Gaucho politicians on the national scene linked to the MDB in recent years, former federal deputy and former minister Eliseu Padilha, died late this Monday night (13) in Porto Alegre. Party colleagues lamented, in posts on social networks, the death of Padilha, who was fighting cancer.
He had been hospitalized at Moinhos de Vento Hospital since the end of February due to complications from stomach cancer. Padilha was 77 years old.
In the government of Michel Temer, who was vice president of Dilma Rousseff (PT), from mid-2016 to 2018, the politician from Rio Grande do Sul occupied a strategic post, that of Chief Minister of the Civil House.
On Twitter, vice-governor Gabriel Souza stated that “it is with deep sadness that I say goodbye to someone who was a partner, friend and one of my biggest supporters in my career in public life: Eliseu Padilha”.
“Root Emedebist, born politician and a leader who always believed in his people”, wrote Souza.
The wake will be on Wednesday (15) at the Piratini Palace, between 10am and 5pm.
