State championship has the support of the Government of Amazonas and brings together 36 teams with more than 1 thousand athletes

The opening of the 1st Forest Cup took place this Wednesday afternoon (16), at the Jayoro Training Center, in the municipality of Presidente Figueiredo. The state competition brings together 36 teams with more than 1,000 athletes from various municipalities in the state.

“This unprecedented championship that brings together several channels from the upper, middle and lower Amazon is very important, as we know that it is from competitions like this that we discover new stars for football in the Amazon. It is one of the main aspects of Governor Wilson Lima that we can encourage and empower athletes from the interior of the state”, highlighted Jorge Oliveira, Secretary of State for Sports and Leisure (Sedel).

The competition, which had as its first game the teams of Presidente Figueiredo and Urucará, has 36 selections divided into six groups, each group with two keys, A and B, containing three teams in each. Teams compete against each other within their own brackets, and the top teams from each bracket face off in the final to determine the champion of their group. This occurs in each of the six groups of the Copa da Floresta.

“The expressive results that Amazonian sport has achieved, especially football, is a new moment that we are experiencing, we are happy about it. I would like to thank our governor Wilson Lima for all the support he received in order to hold the Copa da Floresta, football and athletes are grateful for this incentive”, emphasized the president of the FAF, Ednailson Rozenha.

In the second stage of the competition, the six winning teams advance to the semifinals of the tournament. Again, they are divided into two groups, the best team in each group in the semifinal that takes place in the city of Careiro Castanho, guarantees its place in the grand final of the Copa da Floresta. The decisive game takes place in the municipality of the finalist selection that has the best performance throughout the championship, the winner will compete in the Super Cup with the champion of the 2023 Amazonense Championship, Amazonas FC.
