Fora dos Autos program goes live on Mondays

In order to defend the proper functioning of democracy, Gazeta do Povo launched in 2022 the program out of cars, an unprecedented initiative in the country to discuss the consequences of judicial activism, a scenario that affects all Brazilians. The program, which has already gone through several stages, as of next Monday (5), will be broadcast liveat 8 pm, on the YouTube channel of Gazeta do Povo.

In the current formation, the bench of commentators has federal deputy Deltan Dallagnol and lawyers Fabiana Barroso and Emerson Grigollette. And who starts to conduct, in this new live phase, the debate on the controversial topics of the week is the journalist Ligia Martoni.

Translating “legalese”

The target audience of Fora dos Autos has always been every Brazilian citizen who appreciates and defends freedom of expression and is concerned about the paths that the judiciary has taken. However, not everyone is familiar with the legal terms that appear in the news in the newspapers and facilitating the understanding of these themes is the program’s mission.

“It is common for the lay citizen to often have some difficulty understanding the scope of legal matters, due to the formalism and complexity of the law and the very language adopted by the world of law: the famous ‘juridiquese’.”, says Grigollette, lawyer and specialist professor in Digital Law.

Therefore, the idea is “to translate complex subjects into popular language and accessible to all, so that people can understand the extent, impact and positive and negative, direct and indirect effects of decisions and legal matters in general in their daily lives. every day and in their lives”.

The most legitimate path to freedom

Fabiana Barroso, a lawyer specialized in Tax Law, who has been part of the panel of commentators since the launch of the program, says that Fora dos Autos is an important project to keep society knowledgeable about laws and citizenship. And she still assures, in a hopeful tone, that “at some point legality in Brazil will be normalized and the more knowledge in this sense the better”.

Regarding the new phase of the program, Fabiana says she is looking forward to interacting with people and guarantees that she and her banking colleagues will “bring up the expectations of the week’s legal decisions”. Another advantage, according to Grigollette, is that the live transmission guarantees a real-time update of the relevant issues of the day, “in addition to creating a greater approach and interaction between the public and the program and the participants”.

“If we want a better, freer and fairer Brazil, this is the best path: the firm and sincere debate of ideas, but without abuses, impositions and arbitrariness”, emphasizes Grigollette. “This is the most legitimate path to freedom and Gazeta do Povo has been a bastion of this permanent struggle, in this difficult moment for the country”.
