Food Safety School offers courses in Santa Felicidade

Curitiba received its fourth Food Safety School this Thursday (23). The historic Casa Culpi building, in the Santa Felicidade neighborhood, is now the headquarters of the space that will offer courses and training in the area of gastronomy and tourism. The action is a joint program between the Municipal Secretariat for Food and Nutritional Security, the Curitiba Cultural Foundation, the Municipal Tourism Institute (IMT) and the Social Action Foundation, to promote qualification for work and income generation.
The house will also host a series of activities, including cultural exhibitions about Italian immigration, the history of the Culpi family and the Italian influence in the region, featuring a multifunctional space dedicated to the celebration of 145 years of Italian immigration to Curitiba.
“It is with immense joy that we return to Curitiba this mansion that housed the hope of a traditional Italian family from the Santa Felicidade region. Now the Culpi family house will house the hope of many Curitiba residents as a symbol of our city’s commitment to preserving and celebrate its traditions, while investing in the future through education and social development”, said Mayor Rafael Greca at the site’s inauguration event.
The vice-mayor and state secretary of Cities, Eduardo Pimentel, expressed his satisfaction with the delivery of a place that will play such an important role for the community. “We are delivering several things here today: respect for tradition, care for the historical and cultural heritage of our city and an area of improvement and professionalization in several areas”, highlighted Pimentel.
Courses in the area of gastronomy
The Casa Culpi project includes offering training opportunities in the area of gastronomy and tourism, using the methodology of the Schools of Food and Nutritional Security. The first courses, Christmas Cuisine and Quality in Tourist Service, are already scheduled to start on December 11th.
The Secretary of Food and Nutritional Security, Luiz Gusi, highlighted the delivery of Casa Culpi, which has now become a reference for the region. “Casa Culpi is not only a historic landmark, but also an innovative initiative aimed at promoting emancipation through income generation”, highlighted the secretary.
There are three other Food Safety Schools in Curitiba: Patrícia Casillo School of Food Safety (Jardim Botânico/Centro), Dom Bosco School of Food Safety (Campo do Santana) and Vila Agrícola School of Food Safety (Cajuru).
The schools have a partnership with the Social Service of Commerce (Sesc), the National Commercial Learning Service (Senac) and other educational institutions to offer courses and training related to food, covering areas such as bar food, confectionery, bread preparation, pizzas, snacks, pies, full use of food and good handling practices.
