Fluminense renews contracts with Calegari and Martinelli until the end of 2025

Fluminense announced, this Wednesday, the contract renewals with midfielders Calegari and Martinelli. The 20- and 21-year-old athletes, respectively, signed a new contract valid until December 2025.

Previously, Calegari’s contract ran until February 2025, while Martinelli’s ran until the end of 2024.

Revealed in Xerém, Martinelli was promoted to professionals during the 2020 Brasileirão. Since then, he has become an important part of the tricolor squad. The number 8 of Tricolor has 124 games (85 as a starter), five goals and nine assists, in addition to 73 decisive passes, 87% in pass accuracy, 112 accurate dribbles, 185 tackles, 115 interceptions and 544 recovered balls.

“The feeling is one of great gratitude for everything the club has offered me. I hope to live up to the heights and I will do my best whenever I’m here. Fluminense is my home, I came from Xerém and all the boys who come from there feel very comfortable here. I have to thank the club and the fans who always support us. I will always give my all for this shirt”, said Martinelli.

Calegari was integrated into Fluminense’s professional squad during the 2020 Brazilian Championship. The athlete has played 81 games (70 in the starting line-up), a goal and two 2 assists, in addition to other important numbers such as 45 decisive passes, 96 interceptions, 154 tackles and 405 recovered balls, according to SofaScore statistics.

“I feel very happy to be valued by the club. It is a huge joy, because this is the dream of every Moleque de Xerém. I’m starting my fourth season here and I hope to repay all that on the field, with victories, good performances and titles, God willing”, said Calegari.

Before signing Calegari and Martinelli, Fluminense had already agreed to extend the bonds of other important names for the team, such as striker Germán Cano, midfielders Paulo Henrique Ganso, Jhon Arias and Michel Araújo, midfielder André, left-back Samuel Xavier and defenders Manoel and David Braz, in addition to making official the stay of coach Fernando Diniz.

In addition, Tricolor closed with seven reinforcements for the season: striker Keno, left-back Jorge, midfielder Lima, right-back Guga, defender Vitor Mendes, goalkeeper Vitor Eudes and attacking midfielder Giovanni.
