Flávio Bolsonaro wants to convene and break Lula’s secrecy – 04/26/2023 – Panel

Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) defends that President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) be summoned to the mixed CPI that investigates the January 8 coup attacks, and that the collegiate break the president’s telephone secrecy.

He said that there is more reason to call the current president than Jair Bolsonaro (PL) to provide clarification.

“There’s much more reason to summon Lula, right? He was president at the time. What did he do? Did he find out beforehand? Let’s break Lula’s telephone secrecy to find out if they called him before to notify what was going on and see if he didn’t give an order to let things happen on purpose,” he told the Panel.

The senator also said that “they can summon everyone”, in relation to the other names quoted, such as Bolsonaro’s ministers Augusto Heleno (GSI) and Braga Netto (Defense). “They [parlamentares] will hear the truth,” he said.

Flávio also stated that he will file a complaint against the holder of Justice, Flávio Dino, at the PGR (Attorney General of the Republic) for alleged interference in the Federal Police. The senator alleges that the minister was talking about aspects of the January 8 inquiry, which should be confidential.

“He is always talking about things that are happening within a confidential inquiry. If it is confidential, the minister does not have to know anything. If he is aware, is he not leading, not omitting, shielding someone in this investigation?” he said.

There are currently four Federal Police investigations open to investigate the January 8 episodes.

In defense of his father, he said that Bolsonaro was no longer in office, nor in Brazil, when supporters dissatisfied with the outcome of the elections invaded and destroyed the headquarters of the three Powers in Brasília.

The argument is the same used by the former representative in a statement to the Federal Police (PF) this Wednesday (26).

Flávio must join the commission in one of the three vacancies of holder or substitute. His brother Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP) should also participate in the mixed CPI, for the Chamber.

For the senator, if pictures from the management of Augusto Heleno were kept in the portfolio, it was because General Gonçalves Dias, his successor, wanted it that way.

“If he continued with some who were in the Bolsonaro government, it is because he understood that they had some competence to be there.
