Flamengo approaches signing Uruguayan Facundo Pellistri

Flamengo advanced in talks with Manchester United to hire the Uruguayan Facundo Pellistri. The English club was interested in the Red-Black offer – a loan contract for one season, with the value of the economic rights already fixed and the player’s salary paid in full by the locals.

The Portuguese coach Vitor Pereira gave the endorsement for the signing of the player.

Other European clubs are keeping an eye on the attacking midfielder, who played in the 2022 World Cup for the national team and who has not been used much by United manager Erik ten Hag.

Botafogo also made an attack, but did not present a proposal that pleased the parties involved. In the case of Flamengo, the good relationship between the directors weighs positively, created since Flamengo hired midfielder Andreas Pereira, currently at Fulham.

Pellistri, 21, was revealed by Peñarol and signed by Manchester United in 2020. He was loaned to Alavés, from Spain, for two seasons, before receiving his first opportunities in the English team.

Hugo’s situation interferes with the rush for Rossi

Flamengo has so far hired midfielder Gerson and signed a pre-contract with goalkeeper Rossi, from Boca Juniors. The intention of the red-black is to have the Argentine as soon as possible, but the Bombonera club plays hard and can only release him at the end of the commitment, in the middle of the year.

The club from Rio de Janeiro, on the way to Buenos Aires, signaled with the payment of 500 thousand dollars to Boca Juniors to have Rossi’s early release, but Boca’s vice president, Juan Román Riquelme, did not open a breach to negotiate.

The signing is certain, but Flamengo’s rush to have Rossi increases or decreases according to Hugo Souza’s possibilities. Initially, the player was right with Vissel Kobe, which forced the red-black to hire Santos’ competitor as soon as possible.

However, there was a turnaround and Hugo, citing personal issues, withdrew from transferring to Japanese football. With him in the squad, the Red-Black technical commission is more protected in terms of options for the goal, even if the player is not one of the priorities.

However, he can resume a negotiation to leave Flamengo, only for Benfica, from Portugal.
