Federal Government promotes joint effort to boost family farming in Amapá – News of Brazil

The Federal Government promoted, this Friday (6), another action to promote productive development in the state of Amapá. In partnership with the Amazon Development Superintendence (Sudam) and the Amazon Bank (Basa), the Ministry of Integration and Regional Development (MIDR) promoted, during the eighth day of the 52nd Expofair, a joint effort to grant credit to family farmers in the state. In total, 110 families had access to R$4 million in financing, with resources from the Northern Constitutional Financing Fund (FNO).
“We are creating a task force, a joint effort to increase microcredit, to increase values for family farming, which is a priority for this government and for President Lula”highlighted the Minister of Integration and Regional Development, Waldez Góes. “We are going to make the resources reach the end, for the farmer, the extractivist, the fisherman, the small breeder and also for those who industrialize, sell and transport, that is, for the entire production chain”he completed.
The financing resources authorized this Friday include the amount of R$100 million allocated by the Federal Government to the Family Farming Harvest Plan in Amapá. “We initially had a quota of R$50 million for this objective. We managed to double this amount and, if necessary, we will put in more resources”guaranteed minister Waldez Góes.
According to Góes, MIDR, Sudam and Basa will carry out a caravan through the state of Amapá, in order to expand information about microcredit and, as a consequence, access to resources. “We will look for alternatives with microcredit cooperatives, development agencies, so that this resource reaches everyone”he stated. “You cannot expect a small producer, from an isolated region, for example, to have sufficient information about taking credit. We need to go to these people and that is what we are doing”, highlighted the minister.
Family farmer Juvenal Queiroz is one of those who had access to FNO credit. According to him, resources from the Federal Government make a difference in his work. “It’s the second time I’m getting credit. I am expanding my area of activity, especially my açaí grove. I just have to thank this project, which brings a lot of benefit to us”he stated.
Açaí producer Lidiana Cardoso, from the Anauerapucu district, in Santana, celebrated access to credit. “This project arrived at a good time. Our region has a lot of açaí groves. We work with it in many ways, which is our black gold. This resource will greatly benefit our production”reported agriculture.
MIDR’s National Secretary of Funds and Financial Instruments, Eduardo Tavares, highlighted the importance of this Federal Government initiative to guarantee food security in the state. “These resources are very important to boost family farming in the state, which is fundamental for food security. Just today, more than R$4 million in contracts were signed and our goal for 2023 is to reach the R$100 million that was made available to Amapá”he stated.
