Federal government launches award for innovation in peripheries – 7/6/2023 – Panel

The national secretariat for peripheries, an agency of the Ministry of Cities of the government of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), will launch the Periferia Viva award, an initiative that will award projects with greater potential to promote improvement in the quality of life in urban peripheries.
The launch is scheduled for the 18th of July, in Recife, during one of the Periphery Caravans being held by the folder.
The projects will be evaluated and selected by a commission of the Ministry of Cities.
The award, worth approximately R$ 50,000 per initiative, will go to 54 peripheral collective agents from all regions of Brazil, with activities in different areas.
The secretariat is led by Guilherme Simões Pereira, an activist in the housing movement and member of the national coordination of the MTST (Movement of Homeless Workers). He was appointed to the post by federal deputy Guilherme Boulos (PSOL).
