Fans protest in front of CT

The defeat by Vasco last Sunday still wreaks havoc on rival Flamengo. This Tuesday morning, a group of approximately 30 fans were at the entrance to the club’s Training Center to charge the players. Security was tightened and the police were also present.

Faced with the movement, defender Léo Pereira even stopped the car and talked to the members of an organized group. The tone was one of demand for the team’s performance at the beginning of the season and, mainly, for Sunday’s setback against the opponent from Rio de Janeiro.

Several police cars and even some metal bars demarcated the entrance site. Defender David Luiz’s car was also surrounded and he even lowered the window for the fans. A target of Flamengo fans, Gabigol was cursed when he arrived at CT with his car. He didn’t go down to talk to the fans and, after the security guards had cleared the entrance, he went straight in.

Gávea was also the target of a demonstration. A banner with the inscription “We are not fans of scoundrels” was extended in front of Flamengo’s headquarters. This Tuesday, the Special Police Battalion in the Stadiums (BEPE) communicated that organized supporters involved in confusion before the classic are prohibited from going to Maracanã for three months. The decision was confirmed by Colonel Wagner Ferreira to TV Globo.

The punished uniforms are the Red-Black Race (Flamengo) and the Torcida Jovem (Vasco). In Sunday’s clashes, at Maracanã, for the Carioca Championship, one person died.

This morning, coach Vitor Pereira commanded a training session to prepare for the classic with Fluminense, which will take place this Wednesday. Flamengo has 23 points, one more than the rival, and needs a draw to keep the symbolic title of the Guanabara Cup. The top four from that first stage advance to the semifinals of the State.

For this game, the Portuguese coach has problems. Striker Pedro, with thigh pain, should not be in good shape. Thiago Maia and David Luiz, who were substituted against Vasco, are vetoed.
