“False narratives”, says SP Security Secretary about complaints

The secretary of Public Security of the state of São Paulo, Guilherme Derrite, classified as “false narratives” the allegations of torture released by the press in relation to the progress of Operation Escudo, which completed 30 days with 650 arrests and 22 deaths of suspects.

The Operation was launched on the coast of São Paulo after the murder of Rota soldier Patrick Bastos Reis while on patrol in Guarujá (SP).

Giving an interview to Jornal da Manhã, from Jovem Pan, this Monday (28), the Secretary of Security said that, so far, there is no medical report or other technical document that points to evidence of torture in the bodies of the 22 suspects. dead.

“I rely on technical documents, including the expertise carried out on the bodies of individuals who, unfortunately, faced the police forces, and in all the reports from the Legal Medical Institute (IML) there is no indication of hematoma, much less of torture”, said Derrite as he ensured the continuity of the Operation.

According to the secretary’s evaluation, the high number of prisoners and conflicts with suspects is a reflection of the “abandonment” of the region, which would have allowed the creation of a “parallel state” by criminals in the Baixada Santos, pointed out by Derrite as “criminal logistical center”.

Derrite also recalled that this year alone, seven police officers were executed in Santos.

When citing the updated numbers of the Operation, the secretary pointed out that of the 650 individuals arrested, 245 were wanted by the Justice. 85 illegal weapons and almost a ton of drugs were also seized.

“This is truly absurd and denotes this abandonment of years and years by the state”, said Derrite when informing that, on the morning of this Monday (28), the Military Police arrested the drug dealer Flávio José Ramos, known as “NK ”, accused of participating in police homicides and appointed as leader of drug trafficking in Santos (SP).

The secretary said that the PM’s actions have almost 85% approval from the population and that Operation Shield should continue indefinitely. The operation has even extended to other states in an attempt to combat the action of criminals at the borders.

“Our objective is to financially asphyxiate organized crime. We have to understand that the PCC, unfortunately, was born here in São Paulo, in 1993, it became a criminal organization that came to dominate drug trafficking within Brazil, expanded its business with international drug trafficking and mostly uses Port of Santos to export the drug, cocaine, to countries in Europe, Asia and the United States,” said Derrite.
