On Wednesday afternoon (01) the headquarters of the Amapá Football Federation (FAF) was the stage for the arbitration meeting involving the FAF Technical Department and directors of local clubs. The meeting aimed to define the direction of professional football in Amapá for the 2024 season.
Among the topics discussed, the systematization of the professional football Series A and B championships gained prominence. The Campeonato Amapaense Série A will feature the participation of 08 teams, as long as the 08 professional clubs confirm their registrations in the championship. In this scenario, 2 clubs are expected to be relegated to the Professional Championship Series B the following year.
If only 7 professional clubs from Series A confirm their registrations, 1 club will be relegated to Series B the following year. If only 06 professional clubs confirm registrations, there will be no relegation of any club to Series B. And, finally, if there are less than 06 clubs registered, the Amapaense Series A Championship will not be held, following the provisions of Article 25 of the Regulations General Competitions (RGC). In this scenario, the representatives of national competitions, such as the Copa do Brasil, Brasileiro Série D and Copa Verde, will be the same as in the previous edition.
Clubs that choose not to participate in the Campeonato Amapaense Série A will automatically compete in the Campeonato Amapaense Série B the following year.
The teams that will compete in Series A in 2024 were defined as: Trem Desportivo Clube, Independente Sport Clube, Oratório Recreativo Clube, Ypiranga Clube, Santos Futebol Clube, Sport Clube Macapá, São Paulo Futebol Clube/AP and Santana Sport Clube.
In Series B, the competition will feature 8 or 9 teams, and 2 clubs (champion and runner-up) are expected to advance to the Campeonato Amapaense Série A the following year. There will be no relegation in Series B, as there is no subsequent competition.
The arbitration meeting was fundamental in defining the basis for professional competitions in 2024, ensuring that the championships are organized and balanced, providing the best of Amapá football to fans and athletes. With planning and guidelines in place, next season promises to be full of opportunities for local clubs to shine.
