Exams performed on former congressman Roberto Jefferson (PTB-RJ) ruled out that he has a head injury.

The examination was requested by Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the STF, after the Seap-RJ (Secretary of Penitentiary Administration of Rio de Janeiro) reported that the former deputy fell, hit his head and had suspected head trauma. A tomography performed at Hospital Municipal Pedro 2º showed no signs of injuries.

After receiving the reports from SEAP, the minister allowed Jefferson to leave the penitentiary hospital for medical attention. According to the secretariat, there was also suspicion that the ex-deputy’s pancreatic cancer had returned and Jefferson was unable to receive adequate treatment in prison.

Despite the release, the minister said that the preventive detention of the former deputy is maintained. He also determined that Jefferson can only receive visits from his wife and lawyer, is prohibited from accessing social networks, cannot grant interviews without court authorization and is also prohibited from using cell phones or other communication devices.

Jefferson was arrested in October last year in an inquiry into offenses against authorities and attacks on Brazilian democratic institutions. He is also responsible for shooting and throwing grenades at PF agents who were carrying out search warrants at his house, in Levy Gasparian (RJ).

In early May, the STF denied an appeal by the defense and upheld his arrest, in a unanimous decision. The former deputy had filed a regimental grievance in court.

At the time, the defense asked Jefferson to leave the penitentiary, with precautionary measures or with the eventual conversion of pre-trial detention into house arrest, alleging a danger to his health.
