Lula signs a law to expand the offer of full-time vacancies in basic education TV Brasil/Reproduction The Escola em Tempo Integral Program, sanctioned this Monday (31) by President Lula (PT), expects to increase by 1 million the number of enrollments of full-time in 2023. The measure aims to achieve goal 6 of the National Education Plan (PNE). Goal 6 of the PNE: Offer full-time education in at least 50% of public schools, in order to serve at least 25% of basic education students. How will the program work? The initiative wants to increase the number of full-time enrollments by 1 million in 2023. The planned investment is R$ 4 billion. The Ministry of Education (MEC) will guarantee technical, pedagogical and financial assistance to state and municipal networks. Values will be passed on to the states and municipalities that adhere to the program, taking into account the agreed enrollments, the value of the promotion and the equity criteria. The school workload will be equal to or greater than 7 hours a day or 35 hours a week. The next goal of the program is, by 2026, to receive about 3.2 million enrollments in the format. PNE Goals The National Education Plan is a federal law approved in June 2014, which the Union, states and municipalities must comply with. It has a duration of 10 years and 20 targets for education, from kindergarten to higher education, each with its own deadline, with the final deadline being 2024. According to the 2022 PNE Target Monitoring Report, produced by Inep, the percentage of full-time enrollments in the Brazilian public network dropped from 17.6% in 2014 to 15.1% in 2021.
