Federal deputy Erika Hilton (PSOL-SP) filed a new complaint with the Public Ministry of Minas Gerais against pastor André Valadão this Monday (3), after the religious leader suggested that believers “kill LGBTQIA+ people”, according to the statement. parliamentary representation. The speech took place on Sunday (2), during a service at the Lagoinha Baptist Church.

“This door was opened when we treated as normal what the Bible already condemns. Now it’s time to take the ropes back and say: ‘no, you can stop, reset’. Then God says, ‘I can’t anymore, I’ve already put this rainbow, if I could, I would kill everything and start all over again. But I already promised myself that I can’t, so now it’s up to you'”, said the pastor in his preaching.

“It is important to say that this speech, regardless of the context in which it was said, presents a danger of absolute concern, especially in the context in which Brazil is at the top of the list of countries that most kill and violate LGBT+ people around the world”, says the text.

Also according to Erika, the pastor makes statements with the aim of instigating believers to manifest hatred against representatives of the LGBT community. In the document, the parliamentarian asks that manifestations of a prejudiced nature be removed from social networks.

In response, Valadão published a video in which he claims that “the mainstream media” stands up to try to generate news that embarrasses and inhibits Christians. According to him, society is experiencing a moment of debauchery, contrary to God’s will, as in the days of Noah, a biblical character who survived the Flood that killed humanity.

“But what’s the difference? The difference is that there is no way to reset. God is not going to kill, God is not going to restart humanity. Within that, in my message, in my preaching, I make it clear that it is up to us to pull the strings, and we reset. When I say ‘we reset’, I don’t mean ‘we kill’. For God’s sake, people. I don’t mean we annihilate people. What I’m saying is: it’s up to us to take the man, the human being , to the beginning of what is the will of God”, he says.

According to the pastor, “they try to establish laws where more and more the genuine Christian begins to be considered an outlaw for believing in the word of God as the firm foundation of his faith”.

This Monday, the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Minas Gerais opened an investigation against Valadão to determine whether he committed the crime of homotransphobia, as shown by the Mônica Bergamo column, in response to Erika’s previous representation. She denounced a cult made by him in June, the month in which LGBTQIA+ Pride is celebrated, called “God hates pride”.
