The secretary participated in the event Glocal Experience Amazônia
Manaus (AM) – The Secretary of State for the Environment, Eduardo Taveira, was one of the panelists on the first day of the Glocal Experience Amazônia, on Saturday (26). At the meeting, which takes place in the center of Manaus, until this Monday (28), he defended the fight against poverty as essential to expand discussions on energy transition in the country.
“We are talking about a commitment to a public policy framework broad enough for investments to think, in the short and medium term, in an urgent energy transition. But it is not possible to talk about this transition without including, at the same time, the improvement in the quality of life of the people who live in the region”,
said the secretary.
The assessment was carried out during the “Energy Transition” panel, which took place at the Palace of Justice, with the participation of the Superintendent of Community Development of the Sustainable Amazon Foundation (FAS), Val Solidade, and the manager of ESG and Social Responsibility at Eneva , Aline Louise.
During the dialogue, the participants defended the need to expand, first, the supply of energy to the deep Amazon. Val Solidade highlighted, for example, the inevitable purchase of diesel so that isolated communities have access to at least four hours of electricity in their homes.
“An energy transition agenda will only stand up, first, if the investments include improving the lives of the people who live here. This is the challenge if we want to effectively do climate justice: environmental protection, with a gain in the quality of life for the communities”, concluded Taveira.
