Entities of the LGBTQIA+ movement sent this Wednesday (17) an extrajudicial notification to the Ministry of Human Rights and Citizenship against the investiture of members of the council on LGBTQIA+ rights.
Entitled National Council for the Rights of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transvestite, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, Asexual and Other Persons (CNLGBTQIA+), the collegiate is a reformulation of the former National Council to Combat LGBT Discrimination, extinct at the beginning of the government of Jair Bolsonaro (PL).
The body, recreated in the Lula government, is made up of 38 people, divided equally between civil society and government representatives. The nominees took office this Wednesday.
In the notification, the entities claim that the public call process to define the composition of the CNLGBYQIA+ was marked by irregularities, such as the absence of the minimum activity requirement of the entities and the choice of organizations that would not have the LGBTQIA+ cause as their main activity.
The group argues that the entity Mães Pela Resistência, one of those selected, was founded in December 2021, and the edict requires at least two years of activity.
“Also, the notifiers bring up a fact that is at least strange, since the priority of the public call is aimed at enabling institutions in the LGBTQIA+ field, surprising Abong’s choices [Associação Brasileira de Organizações Não Governamentais] and Anped [Associação Nacional de Pós-Graduação e Pesquisa em Educação]civil society institutions that do not have their main focus of action on the LGBTQIA+ population”, continues the document.
The entities ask that the ministry led by Silvio Almeida take urgent measures, since the council took office this Wednesday.
The notification is signed by the organizations Rede Nacional de Pessoa Trans do Brasil, Rede Gay Brasil,
Brazilian Association of Trans-Homoculture Studies and Brazilian Trans Institute of Education.
They are represented by attorney William Callegaro. “I thought twice before creating the piece, because today [Dia Internacional de Combate a LGBTfobia] it’s a day that should be one of unity, but I couldn’t be silent in the face of the irregularities that were presented to me”, he says.
Sought, the ministry did not respond until the completion of this text.
