Energy: Malafaia requests meeting with minister to question tariffs – News of Brazil

the federal deputy Dorinaldo Malafaia (PDT) requested, this Thursday (3), a hearing to discuss the electricity tariffs practiced in Amapá to the Minister of Mines and Energy of Brazil, Alexander Silveira.
Dorinaldo claims that Amapá has a surplus in the production of electricity, having four hydroelectric plants and, even so, has one of the most expensive tariffs in the entire country.
“It is unacceptable and nobody can take it anymore. You take the example of two people, a couple, who stay away from home all day and only return at night and when the bill arrives it is around a thousand reais. This consumes 30%, 40% and sometimes more than half of the income of many families, not including those who cannot pay. In addition, we know that the quality of service is terrible, as soon as it starts raining and thundering, people are afraid of new blackouts. We cannot naturalize. This is not right, this is not normal.”declared the deputy.
Malafaia informed that since the first half of the year his team has been studying and preparing bills and initiatives that seek to compensate the consumer in Amapá for the deficient services and for the energy contribution that Amapá generates for the national system and, based on the statement by the president Lula to the journalist from Amapá Luiz Melo, Dorinaldo sees an opportunity to go deeper into the topic.
“You see, the president was very clear in his conversation with journalists from the Amazon. He also does not agree with the rate currently charged to people from Amapa. It is time to put this debate in evidence and seek relief for the people of Amapá. Let’s pursue this theme”finished Dorinaldo Malafaia.
