Elderly woman involved in acts in the DF has already been convicted of trafficking – 01/17/2023 – Power

Filmed by coup plotters during the attacks on public buildings in Brasília on January 8 and praised for the impetus with which she vandalized places at the age of 67, Maria de Fátima Mendonça Jacinto Souza has already been convicted of drug trafficking involving a minor.

In the video that went around the country, an invader films Maria de Fátima and says: “Dona Fátima, 67 years old, from Tubarão, Santa Catarina, is breaking everything!” She celebrates with her hand in the air: “Breaking everything and shitting in this shit.”

Then he says that “it’s war” and promises “to catch Xandão, now”, in reference to Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the STF (Federal Supreme Court).

The episode that justified the conviction occurred in the early hours of January 14, 2014, in the Passagem neighborhood, in Tubarão (SC), where Maria de Fátima lived.

According to the denunciation of the Public Ministry of Santa Catarina, the action of Maria de Fátima and a teenager whose identity was preserved was caught by two military police officers during a 30-minute vigil. In the meantime, she swept the sidewalk in front of the residence, advising potential buyers on the availability of drugs at the time and, possibly, on the presence or absence of police.

In one of the dialogues that are part of the complaint, Maria de Fátima says in a loud voice: “Come here, there’s nobody. You can come here”.

To which a drug user approaches and asks “do you have it?”, she replies in the affirmative. A teenager then pulls out of his driveway and hands something to the customer. At another moment, a car stops in front of the residence and Maria de Fátima responds to those inside: “No, no.”

After observing the movement hidden for 30 minutes, the police approached the residence. In the teenager’s underwear, the police claimed to have found 27 portions of “a substance similar to crack”. Inside Maria de Fátima’s house, R$218 was hidden in a printer and R$350 in a wardrobe.

In her defense at the time, Maria de Fátima argued that the teenager was in the place interested in renting a room in the house, and that she only consented for him to remain in the garage of the property that night due to the rain.

He also said that he used to sweep the sidewalk at dawn because he had trouble sleeping. THE Sheet he was unable to contact Maria de Fátima.

The Prosecutor’s Office classified the argument as inconsistent, given that, in his statement, the teenager stated that he was already a tenant of Maria de Fátima and that it did not rain that night.

On July 25, 2014, Maria de Fátima was sentenced to four years, six months and 13 days of semi-open imprisonment. After appeal, the sentence was reduced to three years, 10 months and 20 days in open regime, in addition to a fine.

The elderly woman was not among the 1,843 detained in the camp at Army headquarters on January 9. Of these, 1,159 were sent to prison and another 684, mostly women, children and the elderly, were released by order of Minister Moraes.
