Senator Efraim Filho (União-PB) will be the rapporteur of the working group on tax reform in the Economic Affairs Committee (CAE) of the Senate. The text should begin to be analyzed by senators in August. The Chamber of Deputies approved the Proposed Amendment to the Constitution (PEC) 45/19 last week.
Despite the working group’s definition, the final rapporteur for the text in the Senate has not yet been chosen. The subject should be one of the topics of the meeting between the President of the House, Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG), and the Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad, scheduled to take place this Tuesday (11), informed Poder360.
The cycle of debates on tax reform at CAE should explore five major topics, according to Agência Senado. They are: tax simplification and reduction of bureaucracy; value added tax (VAT) from the point of view of industry and commerce;
VAT from the point of view of the services sector; revenue sharing, Regional Development Fund and compensation for revenue losses; and Manaus Free Trade Zone, special tax regimes and tax benefits.
In addition to Efraim, the working group is formed by Vanderlan Cardoso (PSD-GO), president of CAE; Eduardo Braga (MDB-AM); Otto Alencar (PSD-BA); Irajá (PSD-TO); Oriovisto Guimarães (Podemos-PR); Alan Rick (União-AC); Margareth Buzetti (PSD-MT); Professor Dorinha (União-TO); and Izalci Lucas (PSDB-DF).
