Both reported that negotiations with the federal government for the recovery of the city’s road system are progressing.
Manaus (AM) – The mayor of Manaus, David Almeida (Avante) and senator Eduardo Braga (MDB) announced, this Wednesday afternoon (30), the approval of the transfer of R$ 70 million in federal resources for work to contain slopes in areas located, especially, in the east zone of the capital of Amazonas.
The announcement was made shortly after a meeting with Minister Jader Filho, of Cities, in which municipal secretaries Renato Júnior (Seminf), Jesus Alves (Semhaf) and Clécio Freire (Semef) also participated.
“This year, unfortunately, there have been accidents on slopes, which resulted in eight deaths. Now, the City Hall will receive support of R$ 70 million for their reconstruction”,
Edward said.
The parliamentarian referred to the landslide that occurred on March 12, in the Jorge Teixeira neighborhood, east of Manaus, which killed eight people – including four children – and left hundreds of families homeless. According to David Almeida, the resource will be invested in the recovery of 62 areas already mapped, according to the conditions of the localities and the capacity of the municipal Executive Branch.
“I believe that, in the coming months, we will already be contributing these resources, so that, before the rainy season, the works already begin. This is all due to the partnership between the City Hall and Senator Eduardo Braga”,
said the mayor.

The analysis by the Ministry of Cities is also continuing, according to the senator and the mayor, on the project that foresees the construction of almost 2 thousand housing units in the capital through Minha Casa, Minha Vida.
“Soon, we should announce very important achievements for Manaus within this program”,
said the senator.
