The São Paulo rapper’s next album features ‘Relatos selvas’, ‘Incapturável’ and ‘Original de loja’, among other original songs formatted with names such as the French Dang, the English Jammz, the Rio duo Os Fita and the Italian-Brazilian Nelson D. At 30 years old, São Paulo rapper Edgar announces album with the single ‘Original de loja’, scheduled for April 5th Renato Pascoal / Disclosure ♪ Rapper designed in 2018 by participating in an album by Elza Soares (1930 – 2022), Edgar follows the trail more pop on the next album, scheduled for this first half of 2024. In plain Portuguese, the 30-year-old singer and composer from São Paulo – born Edgar Pereira da Silva, in Guarulhos (SP), in October 1993 – moves through current rhythms, such as trap and reggaeton, in the format of the unprecedented authorial repertoire of the successor to the albums Ultrassom (2018) and Ultraleve (2021). The speech also underwent changes to accentuate the foray into this more pop track that encompasses musical genres such as funk. “It’s not an ecological album, I’m trying to abstract, talk about other things and make the songs more danceable”, says the artist. One of these songs – Original de Quebrada, a partnership between Edgar and the Italian-Brazilian Nelson D, music producer of the track – arrives on the digital world next Friday, April 5th, as the first single from the album. In Original de Quebrada, a track characterized as trap dubstep, Edgar distills irony in verses such as “You all have the same face / You all have the same sound / Mixing green with brown / The ideology is still not good”. Other songs from Edgar’s upcoming album are Relatos selvas – the artist’s partnership with the Frenchman Dang, producer of the track – and Incapturável (Edgar, Abel Duarte and Cainã Bomilcar), recorded by the rapper with the Rio duo Os Fita, responsible for musical production of the track. Fita, Dang and Nelson D are part of the album’s vast team of music producers. International, this team also includes the English Jammz and the São Paulo natives Nakata and Kazvmba. According to the official speech from the record label Deck, the change of sound route in the rapper’s discography happened because Edgar reflected and assessed that he had moved away from the artist’s “roots”, making music without empathy with his friends and family from Favela do Coqueiro, in Guarulhos (SP), where Edgar returned to live during the period of social isolation imposed by the covid-19 pandemic.
