This Monday (10), the Municipality of Macapá, through the Municipal Secretary of Education (Semed), held an inauguration ceremony for the new municipal councilors of the CACS-Fundeb – Council for Monitoring and Social Control of the National Education Development Fund, and elected the chairman of the Council CACS-FUNDEB, quadrennium 2023-2026.
In his opening speech, the Mayor of Macapá, doctor furlan, he highlighted the responsibility of the Council members in monitoring and social control and the importance of the fund for education.
“We are building and renovating schools, providing quality lunches for our children and valuing the employees of the school community. So, Fundeb does not only serve us to pay payroll, but for all investment in education”, explained the Chief Executive.
The Municipal Secretary of Education, Monick França, spoke of the new structure of the Secretariat. “In this new structure in which we are taking over Semed, may we work by striving for transparency and fairness in the entire process of managing this fund that is so necessary for the education of the municipality”.
The Council members were sworn in by the mayor and then there was a vote to elect the new CACS-FUNDEB presidency.
The elected candidate, professor Nicelma Nascimento, also competed with the teacher Raiza Queiroz Carvalho, and won by a small difference of votes.
For Nicelma, the chairmanship of the Board means commitment to the fund’s investments. “In my management, I will concentrate efforts on monitoring and controlling the correct destination of investments within the educational structure”highlighted.
The ceremony took place in compliance with the recommendations of Federal Law 14,113/2020 and Municipal Law 2,446/2021-PMM, regarding the regulation of the new Fundeb.
The New Fundeb Law changed the term of office of CACS-Fundeb members. Before, it was two years. Now, with the New Fundeb, members will be able to remain in office for a four-year term, with no reappointment for the next term being prohibited.
CACS Fundeb is the Monitoring and Social Control Council of the National Education Development Fund, whose main function is to monitor and control the distribution, transfer and application of the Fund’s resources.
