The CPI of the Legislative Chamber of the Federal District approved this Thursday (18) the summoning of Lieutenant Colonel Mauro Cid, assistant to former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL).
The goal is to hear Cid about the attacks on the three Powers on January 8 and the episode on December 12, when vandals tried to invade the headquarters of the PF (Federal Police), in Brasília, and set fire to buses and cars.
Cid testifies this Thursday to the PF about the suspected fraud in his vaccination card, Bolsonaro, and the youngest daughter of the former president, Laura. He’s been in jail for two weeks.
The summoning of the former president’s right arm was proposed by district deputy Fábio Félix (PSOL). The request obliges Cid to appear before the commission, but he can obtain a decision in the opposite direction from the Justice.
In the request, Félix mentions that Cid “would have discussed with Ailton Barros, a former major in the Brazilian Army and a lawyer, preparations for the coup d’état”. Barros was expelled from the Army and was elected as an alternate member of the Legislative Assembly of Rio de Janeiro.
As shown to Sheet, the PF also questioned Bolsonaro on Tuesday (16) about the coup messages that would have been sent directly to him by Barros. He replied that he was unaware of any “guidance” given by Mauro Cid to Ailton Barros.
Bolsonaro also said he was unaware that Ailton was trying to plot a coup to keep him in power, and said that the former candidate “does not have the leadership to enlist people for any act”.
This Thursday, the CPI also approved an invitation to General Gonçalves Dias, minister of the GSI (Institutional Security Office) until April, when excerpts from the security cameras of the Planalto Palace were made public.
The Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry hears this Thursday from General Gustavo Henrique Dutra de Menezes, head of the CMP (Military Command of the Plateau) in the January 8 attacks.
