Since January 2023, the State Government has handed over to the population of Macapá the Santa Inês Trapiche, the new Curiaú Deck and brought back the samba school parade at the Sambadrome, the Expofeira and New Year’s Eve Beira Rio. All these investments They were designed to strengthen tourism and the economy of the capital, which, on Sunday, the 4th, reaches its 266th year of history.
As mayor of Macapá, the current governor, Clécio Luís, allocated investments for the construction and renovation of structures that boost tourism in the capital, including the Bioparque, the Central Market and the Floriano Peixoto square, spaces that, even today, attract visitors of the capital and other parts of Brazil and the world.
All these investments result in a city that is more prepared to receive tourists. Currently, with the parade of samba schools and blocks throughout the state, the hotel chain is expecting an increase in accommodations during the 2024 carnival events.
In the 2023 carnival, according to the Brazilian Hotel Industry Association (Abih), Amapá had a hotel occupancy rate of 40%, a number that the sector hopes to be surpassed this year. The colors of the festivities can already be seen on the streets of the Macapá and Santana shopping centers, a sign of store owners’ preparation for the sales that precede the festive days.
New Year’s Eve
New Year’s Eve Beira Rio 2024 is an example of the scope of this segmentation, as it boosted the economy and encouraged tourism in the state in the three-day event, attracting visitors from other states and countries such as France and Peru and hotel occupancy rates tripled compared to the same period in the previous year, according to data from the Brazilian Association of the Hotel Industry in Amapá.
