Those with debts of up to R$100 will be removed from the list of negatives
The government debt renegotiation program, Desenrola Brasil, starts on Monday (17). Those with debts of up to R$100 will be removed from the list of negatives. It is estimated that 1.5 million Brazilians will have their names cleared.
The Federation of Banks (Febraban) explained that the debt will not be forgiven, that is, people will have to pay the debt with banking institutions. According to the entity, the negation of the debt of up to that amount will be suspended and the citizen will need to renegotiate this amount if he is unable to make the payment at once.
In case you do not renegotiate or do not pay the renegotiation, the negative will be done again. “The suspension of the negative occurs after joining the Program, but the debt must be paid.”
President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva commented on social networks about the start of the program, which, according to the government, will benefit 70 million Brazilians who have debts. “No one likes to have a dirty name. Let’s help the people to regain dignity.“
The Secretary for Economic Reforms at the Ministry of Finance, Marcos Pinto, informed that the measure will reach R$ 1.5 million people. “We already have the commitment of the biggest banks in Brazil to ‘deactivate’ the name of 1.5 million people on Monday”, he said.
Credit
Regarding the resumption of credit, Febraban explained that those who join the program will not have automatic access to credit. It is necessary that, after renegotiating negative transactions, citizens update their data with the bank they wish to obtain credit for.
The bank will review the documentation and decide whether or not to grant the credit. However, not having negative debts can increase the chances of obtaining credit.
About Unwind
The Desenrola Brasil Program, aimed at debt renegotiations, starts next Monday, July 17th. Banks participate in the initiative and each financial institution has defined the conditions that will be offered.
Bank debts were included in track 2 of the program. This range includes the bank debts of customers who have a monthly income of more than 2 minimum wages and less than R$ 20,000 and who are not included in the Single Registry of the Federal Government. Debts incurred between 2019 and December 31, 2022 will benefit.
How to negotiate debts
The Federation of Banks (Febraban) reported that those interested in renegotiating debts should contact their financial institution’s official service channels (branches, internet or app) to gain access to the special conditions for renegotiating these debts.
The conditions for renegotiating debts, at this stage, will be differentiated and it will be up to each financial institution that joins the program to define them. According to Febraban, the negative debt will be suspended after the citizen joins the Program. But it is important for him to be aware: non-payment of the renegotiated installments leads to a new negative.
“If the renegotiation that the bank is offering is good, I suggest that the person earning up to R$ 2,000 do it now. If not, it is to exchange the right for the doubtful. This will not take away the right to participate in the platform for other debts that the person has. We know that the average is three negative debts per CPF”,
said Marcos Pinto.
