Deputy sues the Public Ministry against the law that vetoes the passport of the vaccine against Covid in SP – 02/15/2023 – Mônica Bergamo

São Paulo State Deputy Carlos Giannazi (PSOL) called the Public Ministry of São Paulo (MP-SP) against the law sanctioned by Governor Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans) that prohibits the requirement to present proof of vaccination against Covid-19 for access to public or private places anywhere in the state.

The decision was published in the Official Gazette of the state this Wednesday (15). The bill is authored by a group of Bolsonarist deputies such as Janaína Paschoal (PRTB), Altair Moraes (Republicans), Carlos Cezar (PL), Castello Branco (PL) and Coronel Nishikawa (PL).

From now on, no one can be prevented from accessing any place or service for not presenting proof of vaccination. The text, however, does not provide for punishment for establishments that fail to comply with the measure.

In the representation sent to the MP-SP, Giannazi argues that “the enacted legislation disqualifies the importance of proof of vaccination, which encourages and encourages the vaccination of various age groups and social groups”.

The deputy also says that the decision “is an affront to all efforts made so far to fight the epidemic and prevent people from becoming infected and dying” and “confuses and sends a contradictory message to the population”.

He asks the Public Ministry to promote an action questioning and sustaining the effectiveness of the measure.
