Deputy reports to allies of União Brasil promise to take over Tourism in seven days

Brasilia DF) – Federal deputy Celso Sabino (União Brasil-PA) reported this Tuesday, the 13th, in a meeting of the party’s bench in the Chamber, that the Minister of Institutional Relations, Alexandre Padilha, assured him that he will take over the Ministry of Tourism, in place of Federal Deputy Daniela Carneiro (RJ). O Estadão / Broadcast learned that the promise was made after President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva received Daniela and her husband, the mayor of Belford Roxo, Waguinho Carneiro (Republicans), for a conversation in Planalto, in the morning.

As Estadão/Broadcast showed, Lula agreed with Daniela that he would wait for an agreement with União Brasil before the future of the portfolio was made official. Daniela’s husband had been pressing, in recent days, against the loss of the ministry and traveled to Brasilia this Tuesday to negotiate his wife’s departure. Waguinho even stated that it would be cowardly to put a “bolsonarista” in the place of a female ally. Lula is grateful to the couple who supported him during the last election in Baixada Fluminense. In Rio, Jair Bolsonaro was the champion of votes.

At the end of the meeting with about 50 deputies from União Brasil, the leader of the party, Elmar Nascimento (União Brasil-BA), stated that the change in the ministry would be made at the time of the government’s preference.

“We are not going to put a knife to anyone’s neck. The government knows the most appropriate way (for the exchange)”,

said Elmar, who is close to the mayor, Arthur Lira (PP-AL). Elmar was quoted for Lula’s ministry, but was vetoed by the PT because in Bahia he is an opponent of the acronym.

Sabino’s team is working with the prospect of the deputy taking over the Ministry of Tourism by the end of next week. The party’s demand for the portfolio grew after the ministers responsible for political articulation, Rui Costa (Casa Civil) and Padilha, became a reason for widespread dissatisfaction in the allied base of Congress.

União Brasil intensified demands for the delivery of the portfolio also because Daniela and Waguinho are leaving the party. Nascimento says he obtained government recognition that the acronym’s bench in the Chamber was not contemplated with ministries in the formation of the government.

Daniela even appealed to the Electoral Justice to have the right to join the Republicans without running the risk of having the mandate claimed by União Brasil. Therefore, she started to be treated as a minister of Lula’s personal quota – although she was appointed in the government with the expectation of guaranteeing the loyalty of the parliamentarians of the party for which she was elected, which has not occurred.

This Tuesday, after participating in a hearing at the Chamber’s Tourism Commission, the minister affirmed her loyalty to Lula, although she is in the hot seat. When questioned by journalists, Daniela denied the possibility of disembarking from Lula’s base.

“No, never. We are Lula until the end”,

he said.

Linked to Tourism, Embratur also started to be charged by the deputies of União Brasil. Today, the agency responsible for promoting tourism in Brazil and abroad is under the command of another ally of the president, former federal deputy Marcelo Freixo, who was from the PSOL and migrated to the PT. Freixo even began to be sought after by parliamentarians of the acronym, interested in presenting amendments to the autarchy.

Even if it manages to change Tourism and Embratur, there are doubts among the allied base whether União Brasil will deliver more votes in favor of the government in the Chamber. When questioned about adherence to the government’s guidelines, Elmar said only that the fiscal framework was approved with favorable votes from 54 of the party’s 59 deputies.

The party currently has three ministries – Tourism, Regional Development and Communications – but has become the main focus of government difficulties in Congress.

“I will not force anyone to commit suicide. I cannot ask Kim Kataguiri, Rosângela Moro, Felipe Francischini, Mendonça Filho, to support the agenda of the PT government”,

said Elmar.

In the process of agreement between Planalto and União Brasil, Padilha and the leader of the government in the Chamber, José Guimarães (PT-CE), attended a dinner with party deputies at the house of deputy Marangoni (União Brasil -SP), also with the presence of other Centrão leaders.
