Deputy presents crime news against Colonel Lawand for “false testimony”

Deputy Duarte (PSB-MA) filed this Tuesday (27) a criminal notice to the Public Ministry of the Federal District and Territories (MPDFT) against Army Colonel Jean Lawand Junior. In the document, the parliamentarian pointed out that the colonel allegedly committed a “crime of false testimony” during his testimony to the CPMI on January 8.

“When questioned by the parliamentarians present at the CPMI on the mentioned date, the Defendant lied by distorting his own messages, stating that his objective would only be appeasement and that he does not have sufficient legal knowledge to bring more elements about possible crimes of former President Bolsonaro” , says the document.

Parliamentarians allied with the government, members of the opposition and the president himself, deputy Arthur Oliveira Maia (União Brasil-BA), did not believe in the version given by Lawand about messages exchanged with Lieutenant Colonel Mauro Cid, then assistant to the former president. Jair Bolsonaro (PL), reported Agência Câmara.

He denied that the messages exchanged with Cid were to incite an alleged coup d’état. The military said that the messages were intended to ask Bolsonaro to try to appease the feelings of the part of the population dissatisfied with the result of the 2022 elections.

“At no time did I talk about a coup, at no time did I attack Brazilian democracy, at no time did I want to break, dismiss, attack any of the institutions, because that is not part of what I learned throughout my career, all my life”, said the colonel.

“It appears that the accused [Lawand] he repeatedly lacked the truth before deputies and senators, even when confronted about the veracity of his statements. At no time was there any retraction to expose the truth of the facts”, says the crime news.
