Deputy leader of the government wants to allocate betting resources to the PF – 10/11/2023 – Panel

Deputy leader of the government in the Senate, senator Jorge Kajuru (PSB-GO) wants to allocate part of the revenue obtained from sports betting to Funapol (Fund for the Equipment and Operationalization of the Federal Police’s End Activities), in addition to making the grant amount more flexible for companies to operate in the country.
Kajuru must report the text in the Senate plenary. He has already proposed amendments to the CAE (Economic Affairs Commission) and Cesp (Sports Commission) to allocate 5% of the revenue to Funapol. “The PF is essential for investigations in the country and is out of money. If they do not comply with the CAE and the Sports Commission, I will present it in my final report”, he states. “It’s a question of justice.”
He also said he spoke with Minister Fernando Haddad (Finance) to try to convince him of the need to make the license fee more flexible for a company to operate in Brazil, stipulated at R$30 million in the text approved by the Chamber. “I don’t agree. For me it has to be proportional, according to the size of the house”, he says.
The senator cites as an example a similar decision taken in Portugal. “It will make the same mistake as the Portuguese government, which did this and lost 35 million euros in taxes because the houses left the country or went underground.”
