Deputy Júnior Favacho highlights defense for the sustainable development of Amapá – News of Brazil

This Monday (5), the date on which the World environment daythe chairman of the Committee on Agriculture and Supply (CAB) of the Legislative Assembly of Amapá (Alap), congressperson Junior Favacho (MDB) highlighted initiatives of his mandate that defend the economic development of the state with sustainability.
The parliamentarian is the author of two Bills of Law (PL) in progress in the Legislative House that benefit rural producers and agroindustries that carry out their activities in a sustainable way and with a commitment to the preservation of natural resources.
In May of this year, Júnior Favacho presented PL 0123/23-AL, which establishes a policy for recognizing and valuing companies that adopt sustainable practices. Organizations that meet the sustainability criteria defined by legislation earn the right to be recognized with the “Amapá Sustainable Company Seal”an honor that will be granted by Agência Amapá.
To receive the seal, companies need to prove that they carry out environmentally responsible processes for extracting, manufacturing and using products and raw materials.
It is also necessary that these organizations adequately treat waste and waste from industry, commerce or civil construction and water reuse. Another way to receive the seal is to use renewable, recyclable, biodegradable and non-toxic raw materials, and technologies that reduce the environmental impact.
It is also foreseen in the article that companies need to adopt reverse logistics and carry out the separation of garbage, in addition to using electricity in a rational way. In addition, these organizations need to demonstrate environmental self-responsibility and strengthen environmental education practices among their employees. Currently, the project is being discussed in the Alap commissions, so that, in a second moment, it will be taken to the plenary for discussion and voting by the deputies.
The implementation of seals like this is a widely used practice all over the world. They are a differential for companies that want to convey the message to customers and suppliers that they are concerned with sustainability and environmental responsibility. A company with a sustainability seal shows that it treats this issue seriously, that it knows the impacts of the activity it performs and establishes itself as a reference in the market.
Another important initiative presented by the deputy was PL 0124/23-AL, which provides for the implementation of the Incentive Policy for Sustainable Agribusiness in the State of Amapá, which establishes guidelines and incentives that promote responsible agricultural practices that preserve natural resources and mitigate environmental impacts. This PL is also being processed by the ALAP committees, and it is expected that it will go to plenary in the first half of 2023.
“We present these proposals because we believe in the sustainable economic development of our state, without it being necessary to leave aside the protection of the environment and the preservation of natural resources and the ecosystem. These two concepts can and should go hand in hand, and that’s what we want to encourage. Amapá is rich in biodiversity, and we want this wealth to be preserved and used responsibly to improve the quality of life of Amapá residents”said the deputy.
