The Ministry of Education (MEC) announced this Tuesday morning (12), the construction of 100 new campuses of the Federal Institutes of Education, Science and Technology (IFs). Amapá was awarded a new campus. The initiative is the result of the articulation in the Chamber of the mandate of federal deputy Professor Goreth (PDT-AP) with the MEC.

The new IF will be in the municipality of Tartarugalzinho, serving the lake region, which also includes the municipalities of Amapá, Calçoene and Pracuúba. The parliamentarian participated in the ceremony in the Noble Hall of the Planalto Palace. President Lula and the Minister of Education, Camilo Santana, also participated in the event.

“I am immensely happy to have managed to bring this important social facility to our state, which will develop and offer technical and professional education in all forms and, with this, train and qualify our young people to work in the different sectors of the economy, in local, regional and national socioeconomic development”, commented Professor Goreth.

The objective of the new expansion of the Federal Network for Professional, Scientific and Technological Education is to increase the supply of places in professional and technological education (EPT) and create opportunities for young people and adults, especially the most vulnerable. The construction of new campuses in municipalities impacts the construction sector, in addition to generating jobs and income. The new schools, when they are in operation, will lead to local and regional development.

The resources for the construction of 100 new campuses are already guaranteed in the Growth Acceleration Program (PAC), through which the government will invest R$3.9 billion in the works. The announcement of the expansion of the federal vocational education network had already been anticipated by President Lula during the 4th National Youth Conference. According to the deputy, Amapá should also have units in Mazagão, Oiapoque and the south of Macapá. She confirmed that she has already articulated this possibility with the MEC.
