Deputy goes to court against Lupi’s self-appointment – 01/25/2023 – Panel

Federal deputy Kim Kataguiri (União Brasil-SP) filed a lawsuit in Federal Court against the Minister of Social Security, Carlos Lupi, for having appointed himself as a titular member of the fiscal council of Sesc (Social Service of Commerce).
Lupi will serve as a representative of the INSS (National Institute of Social Security) on the board, with remuneration of R$ 4,000 per meeting.
“The act violates the rule of impersonality, provided for in the caput of article 37 of the Federal Constitution. No public agent can carry out an act that personally benefits himself”, argues Kataguiri in the lawsuit.
The deputy asks that the nomination be reversed. “The case under analysis in this class action is, pardon the language, grotesque. Defendant Carlos Lupi appointed himself to a paid position – and very well paid,” he says.
