Federal deputy Carlos Jordy (PL-RJ) is the main target of the 24th phase of Operation Lesa Pátria, launched this Thursday morning (18) in the state of Rio de Janeiro and the Federal District.

In total, ten search and seizure warrants were executed by the Federal Police issued by the Federal Supreme Court (STF). The deputy’s office in the Chamber of Deputies was one of the targets of the requests, with the Legislative Police accompanying the PF on site at around 7:10 in the morning.

According to the PF, there are two warrants served in the Federal District and eight in Rio de Janeiro.

According to the corporation, this phase seeks to identify “people who planned, financed and incited anti-democratic acts that occurred between October 2022 and the beginning of last year, in the interior of the state of Rio de Janeiro (RJ). The warrants were issued by the Federal Supreme Court (STF).

This phase differs from previous ones that targeted people supposedly linked only to the acts of January 8, 2023, as inciters and financiers of the invasion and depredation of the headquarters of the Three Powers, in Brasília.

Preliminary information indicates that Jordy became a target of the PF after conversations were found on the cell phones of people who participated in the invasion of public buildings in Brasília.

Carlos Jordy is a federal deputy in his second term and has an electoral base in the Rio de Janeiro city of Niterói, where he previously held the position of councilor. He is one of the most combative opposition parliamentarians.

According to the corporation, the facts investigated constitute the crimes of violent abolition of the Democratic Rule of Law, coup d’état, criminal association and incitement to crime.

Also according to the PF, from the beginning of the operation until the 23rd phase, 97 preventive arrest warrants, 313 search and seizure warrants and the seizure of R$ 11.6 million in assets have already been served. They also totaled R$5 million in various vehicles seized and R$8.4 million in buses.

These resources are used to reimburse public coffers for damage caused to public buildings in Brasília that were vandalized during the invasions.
