Federal deputy Delegado Palumbo (MDB-SP) called a decision by the Secretary of Public Security of São Paulo, Guilherme Derrite, to revoke authorization for the assignment of two police officers, one civilian and the other military, to his parliamentary consultancy as “molestation”.

The criticism was made at a session of the Public Security Committee of the Chamber of Deputies this Tuesday (19).

To the Panel, Palumbo stated that, after making his outburst, he spoke with governor Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), who reversed his secretary’s measure.

The deputy is currently the most likely to be Ricardo Salles’ (PL-SP) vice-president for São Paulo city hall, if he makes his candidacy viable.

According to Palumbo, Derrite acted out of revenge, after criticism he made of the salary adjustment announced for police officers at the beginning of the year, which included an increase in contributions for inactive employees, a measure later revoked.

“I am an independent deputy. I don’t sell myself for half a dozen positions,” Palumbo said at the commission. According to him, civil police officer Márcio Kenji and PM sergeant Victor Rota have been working in his security for a long time. The parliamentarian claims that he has been threatened with death several times.

“I was surprised. That was a joke, acting out of revenge. If you want to act like that, there’s no problem. They won’t take away my honor,” he said.

He said that after making the accusations, he spoke to Tarcísio. “The governor assured me that it is resolved. This shows that he didn’t know anything.”

Derrite’s advice was sought, but he did not respond until the publication of this text.
