Deputies call on the MPF to suspend the São Paulo Forum event

Federal deputies Carla Zambelli (PL-SP) and Coronel Meira (PL-PE) filed an accusation with the Federal Public Ministry (MPF) and the Electoral Public Ministry (MPE) to suspend the 26th meeting of the São Paulo Forum. The event will bring together leftist political parties from Latin America and the Caribbean from June 29 to July 2, at the Hotel San Marco, in Brasília.

In the representation, the parliamentarians informed that when analyzing the event’s programming “a clear damage to the public patrimony, to the democratic regime and to the administrative probity is observed”, besides showing “foreign partisan interference in the national political agenda”.

“The “Foro de São Paulo” is a threat to the legal order and the Brazilian democratic regime, with the reception of authoritarian ideas and ideals, of a dictatorial nature, especially when one hears, when one gives shelter to such ideologies, to such regimes of governments, so it is evident that this symbiosis of ideas, during the meeting, will interfere in the way the Brazilian State will be governed”, wrote the parliamentarians.

In a video published on the internet, Zambelli pointed out that among the leaders of the Forum there are people who defend the “communist dictatorship” and the unification of Latin America. “Just imagine the same currency and people devalued because of all these countries that are broke, like Venezuela and Argentina,” he wrote. She stated that she used the constitutional principles of the country’s sovereignty and morality in representing the MPF.

Another accusation made by the parliamentarians to the MPF and MPE was in relation to the “July Party of the Workers’ Party”, scheduled for July 1st, in Brasília. According to the deputies, the event “expresses opposition to the Political Parties Law, which prohibits any type of foreign financing in party entities, even indirectly”. According to information on the PT website, invitations to the event cost between R$300 and R$5,000.

In addition to the suspension of events, the parliamentarians asked for a “prohibition on the entry into national territory of representatives of the Communist Party of Cuba, United Socialist Party of Venezuela and Sandinista National Liberation Front of Nicaragua”.
