The defense of former Minister Anderson Torres spoke to the press this Friday (12), one day after he was released from prison by order of Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF).

During the press conference, lawyer Eumar Novacki ruled out the possibility of Torres closing a plea deal, and referred to the acts of January 8 as “hateful” and “disturbing”. Anderson will do is cooperate to clarify as soon as possible the facts that led to January 8,” Novacki said.

The lawyer also praised the STF’s decisions to “stop” the escalation of violence against institutions, and said that the supreme court acted with “necessary energy” after the attacks. “We can no longer accept this type of demonstration, which violates the democratic rule of law, it is inadmissible. Those acts of January 8 caused an uproar,” Novacki said.

Moraes determined a series of precautionary measures to authorize Torres’ release: use of an electronic anklet; ban on leaving the DF and leaving home at night and on weekends; temporary removal from the post of Federal Police Chief; weekly attendance at the DF’s Criminal Execution Court; prohibition to leave the country; cancellation and delivery of the passport; suspension of possession of firearms, including functional ones; banning the use of social networks; and prohibition of communication with other investigated in the investigation.
