Anderson Torres’s defense filed this Tuesday (2) at the Federal Supreme Court (STF) a new appeal to try to overturn the preventive detention against the former Secretary of Public Security of the Federal District. He has been arrested since January 14, accused of alleged omission in the acts of vandalism on January 8.

The lawyers presented a regimental grievance to Minister Alexandre de Moraes. The defense asks that the minister reconsider the decisions he gave keeping Torres in prison and replace the preventive one with precautionary measures. They also request that the case be analyzed by the plenary of the Supreme Court.

“Her mental health requires care, her mother is facing a serious illness and her daughters currently need psychological and psychiatric follow-up, but there is no request for clemency or compassion, even if the moment allows it. Only a thorough and impartial assessment of the circumstances surrounding his arrest is called for”, argues the defense.

The lawyers point out that “the anticipated fulfillment of a sentence cannot be accepted as natural, nor the use of precautionary arrest as an instrument of physical or psychological torture” and say that Torres “will cooperate with the investigations, as he is the most interested in the quick clarification of what happened”.
