The defense of the former Minister of Justice and former Secretary of Public Security of the Federal District, Anderson Torres, asked this Wednesday (26) for his release due to the risk of suicide. Torres has been in prison since January and is said to be in a deteriorating state of health in prison.

In the request for habeas corpus sent to the Federal Supreme Court (STF), the defense claims that there was a worsening of the former minister’s clinical condition after the crisis he had over the weekend, which led to the request for the postponement of the testimony he would give to the Police. According to the lawyer, the psychiatrist who works with Torres had already diagnosed, on April 14, the ex-minister’s “risk of suicide”, which led the defense to ask the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) to revoke the precautionary arrest. . The professional would have said that “within this context, the risk of attempted self-extermination has been increasing. Still with the aim of containing these crises and preventing suicide, I recommend home hospitalization (to improve protective prevention factors)”, reproduces the request for habeas corpus.

The request for habeas corpus also portrays the favorable opinion of the PGR for the release of Torres, which was denied by Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the STF. On Tuesday (25), the magistrate also denied the request for a visit by federal deputy Captain Augusto (PL-SP) to the former minister.
