Current mayor of the capital of Amazonas reaches 30.3% of voting intentions

Manaus (AM) – Instituto Perspectiva released, this Friday (29), the fourth poll of voting intentions for the Manaus City Council election. The current mayor, David Almeida (Avante), remains in the lead in the electoral dispute, with 30.3% in the stimulated election, and maintains the position shown in surveys carried out during the year.

The top of the survey table defines Amom Mandel (Citizenship), in second place, with 23.7%, demonstrating a reduction of more than 3% since the last stimulus released in November, and the president of the Legislative Assembly of the State of Amazonas (Aleam ), Roberto Cidade (União Brasil), in third, with 8.8%.

The fourth survey was carried out between December 26th and 28th, with 1,000 interviews in the six administrative zones of Manaus. The institute states that the margin of error is 3.1%, plus or minus, and has 95% reliability.

Ipec also published the last survey of the year, on Thursday (28), which demonstrates David Almeida’s leadership over the other pre-candidates. With 36% of voting intentions, the current mayor is almost 10 points ahead of second place, Amom Mandel, who has 27%.

Unlike Instituto Perspectiva, in Ipec, third place, with 8%, is Captain Alberto Neto (PL). While Roberto Cidade is in fifth place, reaching 4%.

Second round

The hypothetical scenario of a second round between the two placed on the voting intention lists, David and Amom, was observed by Instituto Perspectiva. In the November stimulated survey, the mayor presented 46%, while the federal deputy, 41%.

The Ipec simulation shows that David has 44% and Amom, 38%. In a possible confrontation with Roberto Cidade, the current mayor also guarantees a victory of 55% against 18%.

Bolsonaro Manaus

The Perspectiva Institute also analyzed the presidential scenario. The data points to the preference for former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL), if there were again an election against the current head of state, Luís Inácio Lula da Silva (PT). Bolsonaro appears with 47.4% in the stimulated survey and Lula has 23%.

Despite the hypothesis analyzed, the clash is unlikely for the next election, due to Bolsonaro’s ineligibility, in eight years, approved by the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), for abuse of political power.

Bolsonaro’s influence in Manaus remains powerful. Still according to the survey, the former president could be fundamental in the decision of the second round of the race for Mayor. Around 17.5% of those interviewed said they would vote for a candidate supported by Bolsonaro.
