Since the 1960s, every nationally famous comedian has been on TV. But it didn’t take long for the internet to change the rules of the game. Over the last ten years, Brazilian humor has been filled with new faces, almost all of which have emerged online, and no one has made more of an impact than Whindersson Nunes.

Her YouTube channel has 44.2 million subscribers. There are 60 million followers on Instagram, 27 million on Twitter and 11 million on Facebook. It is no coincidence, therefore, that he was appointed by Datafolha as the greatest Brazilian influencer in the area of ​​humor, with 25% of the mentions of respondents. The runner-up was Tirulipa (5%).

Among younger people, the domain is even greater: it was the most remembered by 37% of people between 16 and 24 years old.

Whindersson Nunes Batista was born in 1995 in Palmeira do Piauí. He grew up in Bom Jesus, in the same state, and moved to Teresina in 2012, where he still lives today.

He started recording videos for YouTube in 2010, and two years later he had his first big hit: “Alô, Vó, Tô Reprovado”, a parody of the hit “Vó, Tô Explorado”, by the sertanejo Israel Novaes.

The consecration arrived with “Qual É a Senha do Wifi”, a parody of the video “Hello”, by Adele. Released in 2016, the video has 78 million views. He also embarked on a career as a stand-up comedian.

Other invitations soon arrived. He voiced a character in the feature film “Ice Age: The Big Bang” and participated in “Internet – The Movie” and “The Crashers – Who Gives More?”. On TV, the most outstanding work was on the sitcom “Os Roni”, on Multishow, from 2019 to 2021.

Between 2018 and 2020, he was married to singer Luísa Sonza. Afterwards, he dated Maria Lina Deggan. The couple had a son in May 2021, but the baby died two days after delivery. In August of that year, they broke up.

Whindersson is also investing in his career as a singer and boxer. Not afraid to expose his intimacy, he made public the pain of losing his son and the fight against depression.

Nor does it avoid controversy. In March, he discussed meritocracy with historian Gustavo Gaiofato. The trigger was a comedian’s criticism of influencer Virginia Fonseca. The match didn’t end well for Whindersson. A sign that it is far from being unanimity.
