Daniel Alves loses sponsors after rape accusation and arrest
[ad_1]
Provisionally arrested on charges of sexual assault, right-back Daniel Alves already lost at least three contracts with partner companies. This is what documents obtained by UOL reveal, which show a breach of agreement and two provisional suspensions of partnerships.
Daniel Alves is accused by a 23-year-old woman. The two were at the Sutton nightclub, in Barcelona, in the early hours of December 30. The provisional arrest of the player took place on January 20.
That same day, Pumas – the club for which he had been playing since July – announced the termination of his contract. According to UOL first-hand reports, the Mexican team claims compensation of R$25 million (about US$5 million) for non-compliance with contract clauses.
Notifications from three other partner companies arrived by email days after the Brazilian player’s provisional arrest.
HYGIA SAÚDE
Terminated the contract on January 24, four days after the arrest of Daniel Alves. And he said: “The notifying party, being a company whose pillar is the appreciation of women, making efforts so that they are increasingly recognized in society, and that, with the solutions offered by the Notifying Party, they can have a healthier and better life , cannot even consider maintaining the contractual relationship with the Notified Party.
1xBET (BETTING COMPANY)
Sent an email terminating the contract on January 23, three days after the arrest. “We are pausing our contract due to the impossibility of promoting Dani to our ambassador. [A pausa será] from January (when the news about the case involving Dani started) until the beginning of May (four months in total). Next steps: [vamos] prepare an additional contract by editing the new contract terms […] Planned payments under the main contract will also be postponed.”
ETHIKA (UNDERWEAR)
Terminated the contract on January 25, five days after Daniel Alves was arrested. The email said: “Due to Dani’s current situation, we are forced to pause the contract we currently have, until there is a resolution of Dani’s non-culpability. This implies that we will not make any of the agreed payments for this 2023 and the later until Dani gets rid of the blame.”
ADIDAS
Daniel Alves’ contract with Adidas ended at the end of 2022 and was not renewed. Even without a formal agreement with the sports equipment company, the player continued to use the brand’s boots in Pumas training.
