Daniel Alves changes lawyers once again in Spain
[ad_1]
Daniel Alves has a new lawyer. Arrested in Spain for sexual assault since January, the Brazilian player will, from now on, be represented in the process by Inés Guardiola, according to the Canal Four. According to the Spanish press, the professional has already met with the full-back and has the authorization of Cristóbal Martell, the Brazilian’s former lawyer, to take over the process.
The desire for another change in his defense came from the desire of Daniel Alves and people close to the Brazilian. Martell’s choice for the process – to take the place of Miraida Pontes, who was the first in the case – was not seen entirely as positive. Despite being known for major cases in court, Martell did not have as much experience with cases of sexual crimes, such as Daniel Alves.

According to the Spanish press, Inés Guardiola has a very different profile from Martell. With a much more discreet and less media profile, Inés, aged 35, has experience in cases like Daniel Alves. With previous lawyers, the former player tried several times to respond to the case in freedom and had all attempts denied by the courts.
Daniel Alves has been imprisoned since the beginning of 2023 in a penitentiary near Barcelona. According to Spanish legislation, Brazilians can, if convicted, be imprisoned for up to 15 years. The trial should take place between October and November.
In October 2022, Spain’s Penal Code was amended with the addition of a new law, which provides that sexual crimes must be classified according to the victim’s consent. Called “Only yes is yes”, the law began to consider all non-consensual sexual acts to be violence. The player’s arrest is maintained until the end of the trial.
