Manaus (AM) – With the aim of raising awareness among women about forms of prevention, treatment and risk factors for breast cancer and cervical cancer, the City of Manaus reinforced the offer of services and Health Education actions, in North Zone of the capital, this Saturday, (21), with the mobilization of three Basic Health Units (UBSs), and the Mobile Women’s Health Unit, which operates in regions with health care gaps in that geographical area of ​​the capital.

The “D-Day of Pink October” action mobilized teams from the Carmen Nicolau family health clinic, located in the Lago Azul neighborhood, the UBSs Áugias Gadelha, in the Cidade Nova neighborhood, and Sálvio Belota, in Santa Etelvina, and also the Mobile Unit of Women’s Health, installed in the Manauara complex, also in Santa Etelvina, ending the intensification program carried out, on three Saturdays in October, by teams from the Municipal Health Department (Semsa).

The technician from the Women’s Health Care Division, Vera Hoshiba, explained that “D-Day” was planned with the aim of further expanding access to the female public, who during the week have little time to undergo consultations and health exams. health, but the campaign runs until the end of October at Semsa units.

“The intensification program, carried out over the last three Saturdays, ends today, but ‘Pink October’ continues in health units, with the collection of cervical cancer preventatives, mammography, when necessary, and other services. We emphasize to women the importance of, in addition to carrying out, obtaining the results of the exams, so that there is monitoring in case of any changes, this patient receives the necessary care and guidance”,

In addition to the intensification of the offer of clinical breast exams, users had access to medical and nursing consultations, prenatal consultations, clinical breast examination, mammograms, which in conventional units were requested via Sisreg, ultrasound, guidance on reproductive planning , vaccination, among other services.

Retired Mimma Novelino, who sought care at the Women’s Health Mobile Unit, pointed out that practicality was one of the positive aspects.

“I arrived here, presented my documents, didn’t wait in line, and took my exams. Everything fast and practical. Now, I’m happy and my conscience is clear. These units are very good, because they solve this difficulty that we have in going to UBSs”,

The technical responsible for the Mobile Women’s Health Unit that runs through the North, Dara Luiza de Oliveira, highlighted that, although “Pink October” is a reinforcement for women about the importance of self-care, the whole of society needs to get involved with health feminine.

“Pink October is the period in which we alert, raise awareness and reinforce that women need to take care of themselves. However, this mission takes place all year round. Women tend to prioritize caring for their children, partners, and parents, but they tend not to look at themselves. They need to create a space, a time to take care of themselves. And we, healthcare professionals, are always remembering this and providing humanized care. Self-care is a great proof of self-love”,
