Chef Beto Madalosso now has a bar to call his own: the Sambiquira Bar. Located in Visconde do Rio Branco, Sambiquira has the face of those traditional pubs, with bottled beer served in an American glass, complimentary peanuts on the tables and portions of pure Brazilian flavor on the menu.

But the bar also has the signature of Beto Madalosso. So, the customer can still expect quality and authenticity at Sambiquira. Thus, typical dishes from bars with good cuisine gained rereadings at the chef’s bar.

The oxtail becomes a dumpling (R$26 with four units), the cooked tongue goes to the table as pickle (R$22) and in Bolovo the beef has been replaced by cod – the egg is cooked to perfection (R$29 a unit) . The portions are small, but the value is not scary. Ideal to divide in two and try more than one snack.

Lemí Gastrobar has news on its menu. Commanded by former master chef Eduardo Richard, the bar has launched two new dishes for the summer, both with seafood.

For those who like something a little more spicy, the order is the Octopus Taco (R$ 39 each). Cooked to perfection and loaded with flavor, the octopus is finished with sour cream and kimchi vinaigrette, a Korean fermented product known for its spiciness. Ideal to be savored with a draft beer.

The other novelty on the menu is the crab croqueta (R$ 32 a portion with four units). The dumpling combines crab meat with green curry and coconut milk. It goes very well with rosé wine. The house has options from R$92 a bottle or R$19.90 a glass.

In partnership with ØL Beer, Brød Bakery has launched four own beer labels for the summer season. There are four different styles of beer: Pilsen, Belgian IPA, APA and Witibier. Spices, spicy flavors and citric aromas are included in the descriptions of the drinks (R$ 29 for a 500 ml bottle).

The beers were designed to harmonize with the house’s happy hour menu. The suggestion is to combine APA and Pilsner with Kod Krem (R$54) – sliced ​​mignon flambéed with caramelized onions in cream sauce and served with crispy breadsticks of levain bread – or with Leoncio’s Swedish Meatballs (R$52) . Witibier and Belgian IPA harmonize with Freydivin (R$ 54) – prawns flambéed in sparkling wine and lemon sauce, accompanied by slices of Rugbrød bread.

Specializing in empanadas and Argentine sweets, MediaLuna opened a second store in Curitiba. The new unit is in the Ecoville neighborhood and has the same Argentine recipes on the menu as the first place, opened in 2019 in Alto da XV by businessman Abel Blumenkrantz.

Medialunas, empanadas, alfajores, pies and breakfast baskets are the highlights of the menu. The medialunas are made in two sizes. The medium ones (from R$5.30 each), which are lightly salted and ideal for making sandwiches; and the small ones (from R$2.60 each), which are made with the traditional Argentinian puff pastry, fluffy and slightly sweet.

The empanada menu has 11 flavors. Highlight for the meat with knife (R$ 12.50). Prepared in the Mendoza style, it features meat in cubes, a mix of seasonings, olives, raisins and egg.

The flavors of Arabic cuisine in the form of pizza. This is what Baba Pizza is all about, a sister venture to Baba Culinária Arab that recently opened its doors in Curitiba. Located in the Prudente de Moraes street area, Baba Pizza has a lean menu, but capable of bringing the main dishes of Arab cuisine as a filling in a thin dough in the shape of a large open sfiha and with a touch of sesame.

Among the 11 flavors, the highlight is Palestine – with mozzarella and zaatar – and Moroccan – chicken with almonds, inspired by Syrian rice. The two sweet flavors are based on ricotta cream from the Ataif dessert. Try Dubai, which has a generous layer of pistachios, worth every calorie. Pizzas start at R$40 for each individual.

Everything was thought out by Yousra Ghandour, who runs the restaurant with her mother Asma and sister Maha. “It’s that practical ‘comfort food’ for dinner with family or friends just like here in Brazil. The origin of Arab cuisine has this, of gathering people around the table, of everyone helping themselves, and pizza goes hand in hand with esfihas”, he says.
