PT members who criticized the Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad (PT), and pressed for the maintenance of fuel exemptions changed their tone this Tuesday (28), after the announcement of the new rates.
The leader of the PT in the Chamber, Zeca Dirceu (PR), said that the decision was “quite balanced” and noted “various aspects”. “It will have my full support and also that of our bench. The leaders’ meeting now is being very positive too, a measure will have a lot of parliamentary support”, he told the Panel.
Last week, however, the tone was different. “The extension of the exemption must continue, in the quest not to affect the population’s pocket,” he wrote on a social network.
Who had also attacked the return of the charge was the president of the PT, Gleisi Hoffmann (PR).
After asking for a change in Petrobras’ pricing policy before the resumption of taxes, he declared this Tuesday (28) that Lula had the “sensitivity to lessen the impact of the fuel re-encumbrance on the consumer’s pocket, with a reduction in tax rates and the price at the refinery”.
According to the announcement made this Tuesday, the PIS/Cofins rate will rise to R$ 0.47 per liter of gasoline and R$ 0.02 per liter of ethanol – that is, a still partial charge in relation to the levels charged before the exemption . The Cide (Contribution for Intervention in the Economic Domain) remains zero.
