Cris Barros brand rent goes through dispute in court – 03/09/2023 – Panel SA

The rent of BRL 64,000 per month for the Cris Barros store, in the luxury shopping Cidade Jardim, in São Paulo, ended up in court.

The lawyers of Grupo Soma (company that brings together brands such as Animale, Farm and Hering, in addition to Cris Barros) claim that “a long process of negotiation was made for the renewal of the contract”, however, an agreement was not reached.

The store’s defense says that the rent charged for the space of 119 square meters in the commercial complex, currently around R$ 64,000 per month, is “extremely high”. He also says that at no time was there any pending payment of bills.

The request is for the contract to be renewed until July 2028, maintaining the amount currently charged.

They also claim that, by law, the fashion company has the right to renew assured because it has occupied the same space for almost five years and because it operates in the place uninterruptedly during this period.

The process was sent to the TJSP (São Paulo Court of Justice) at the end of January. In an order on the 1st, Judge Clarissa Rodrigues Alves, from the 4th Civil Court, determined a period of 15 days for the mall’s investment fund, controlled by XP Malls and JHSF Malls, to present a defense.

Sought by Panel SA, Shopping Cidade Jardim said it does not comment on matters that are being processed in court.
