CPI leader posts internal Oeste link, criticizes Marina – 11/27/2023 – Mônica Bergamo

The president of the CPI (Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry) for NGOs, senator Plínio Valério (PSDB-AM), posted links to Revista Oeste’s internal system on his social networks, as if they were reports from the vehicle.

The posts were related to the Minister of the Environment, Marina Silva, who will be heard by the commission this Monday (27), on the eve of COP28, the UN (World Organization of the United Nations) climate conference, which begins on Thursday ( 30).

When questioned, the senator states, through his press office, that, “in this specific case, the link was sent by the reporter, as routinely happens with links sent by journalists who cover Congress.”

“We do not have any access to the internal page of any website”, added Valério.

The magazine stated that “I learned about these publications on the senator’s profile through the print sent by Sheet“.

“Neither the senator nor anyone who is not an editorial employee can access the magazine’s system, which is protected by login and password. There was a technical problem with the published URLs,” he added.

Marina had already been invited to the CPI last Tuesday (21), but did not attend. The group then decided to transform the call into a summons, which obliges her to attend.

Plínio Valério is a scathing critic of Marina. The commission has already heard, so far, other names close to the minister, such as Rodrigo Agostinho, president of Ibama (Brazilian Institute for the Environment and Renewable Natural Resources), and Mauro Mendes, president of ICMBio (Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation) .

The CPI is mostly made up of right-wing parliamentarians, such as Jaime Bagattoli (PL-RO) and Chico Rodrigues (PSB-RR).

In addition to them, substitute parliamentarians tend to be present at the group’s sessions, such as former minister of Jair Bolsonaro (PL) Damares Alves (Republicanos-DF) and former vice-president Hamilton Mourão (Republicanos-RS).

Plínio Valério’s posts went live on October 17, before being deleted. One of them indicated the article “Director of an NGO linked to Marina Silva testifies to the CPI”.

The link, however, did not lead to the report, but to a URL that began with “admin”. When clicking, the user was taken to a “restricted area” screen that asked for a login and password to enter Revista Oeste’s internal system, and not the website.

The vehicle has made several reports about the CPI, and the senator usually republishes them on his official social networks.
