Court of Justice suspends organized by Flamengo and Vasco indefinitely

An order from the Rio de Janeiro Court of Justice (TJ-RJ), decreed this Tuesday, suspended indefinitely two Flamengo and one Vasco fans. They will not be able to go to the stadiums, as punishment for the episodes of violence observed during last Sunday’s Classic of the Millions (Vasco’s victory by 1 to 0). A 90-day suspension had been initially applied by the Military Police, disclosed by the UOL portal and confirmed by GLOBO. The new TJ decision extends this sanction.

Until further notice, the use of instruments, flags or any other article that makes reference to the symbols of the supporters will not be allowed in the stands. To ensure the effectiveness of the sanction, the leader of each organization was required to sign a term of responsibility on behalf of all members.

The GLOBO report had requested the position of the PM who, through the press office, confirmed the punishments to the red-blacks: “Two organized supporters of the Gávea club had an administrative suspension of 90 days defined this morning (7/3) , after breaking rules of conduct last Sunday”. The statement about Vasco da Gama rescued a previous decision: “Vasco’s biggest organized crowd was already suspended and could not attend the match.”

The project for the return of the supporters, discussed last year, did not materialize, due to the lack of signing of a conduct agreement by the organized ones. Using this precept, the TJ only confirmed that they would continue without being able to mark attendance in the stands, and ordered the suspension for an indefinite period.

The Specialized Police Battalion in Stadiums (Bepe) has already shown concern with the scheme for the derby between Flamengo and Fluminense, this Wednesday, at 21:10, in Maracanã, which defines the title of the Guanabara Cup. The agency reported that it is working to readjust the policing strategy for the next matches with large audiences. An organized supporter of the tricolor said they asked Bepe for an escort on their way to the stadium.

The episodes of violence in the classic on Sunday took place hours before the match. Organized members clashed, and eight were admitted to the Souza Aguiar Hospital, in downtown Rio de Janeiro. One of them, identified as Bruno Macedo dos Santos, was confirmed dead on Monday morning.
